If you had a version of Microsoft Works then the task launcher would be installed along with the rest of the product. Works is no longer included with new PCs, and you may instead have the Office Starter edition (which is sometimes referred to as Works, but is a different animal entirely). Office Starter does not include a task launcher.

Frankly I don't see the point of such a beast, especially with Windows 7 which has its own task manager which runs across the bottom of the Window.

If you must have the Works task manager you will need to find a copy of Works Version 9, which is, I believe, now discontinued.

If you have kids using your PC, ensure that you setup separate Windows user log-ins for them to keep them out of your personal data.

I am working in Microsoft Word.  I want to delete some documents from my files.  I was able to delete some, but when I try the others it gives me the message to go to Works Task Launcher, go to the History page, click file name, then Yes to remove.  I cannot find Works Task Launcher anywhere to open it.  I have Windows 7.  The answer that was posted previously said it runs across the bottom of the Window.  I do not see anything across the bottom of the Window.  What program should I be in to see to see something running at the bottom of the Window?

Some free advice. If in doubt, then don't.

Sometimes it is best to take a hint. If you are having problems deleting a file then it is possible that file should not be deleted. I have seen way more problems created by users trying to clean up a computer by deleting files and accidentally deleting a file they need than any problem associated with having too many files.

    Just sayn'...

The Windows task bar shows applications that are running. If you run Windows Explorer you can delete any file that is not currently open in an application. You will find Windows Explorer (Explorer.exe) in the Windows start menu.

If you have Works installed, the task launcher is MSWorks.exe in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Works

Sorry, I know I clicked "helpful", but indeed it was not.  Not for me.  I'm a baby boomer who did not grow with all this technology and just to say I'll find what I need in Windows start menu is ridiculous.  There are so many choices once you the Windows menu, clicking anything, trying to guess what you might find is a waste of time for me.  So far I've found nothing that says it's definitively "Task  Launcher".  Don't see MSWorks.exe.  And the word processing program itself is telling me to find the "History" page - can't find that either.  Can't find is C:\Program blah blah, don't know what the rest of that means.  Don't know where to find files.  A person that is as tech-challenged as I am needs to have step by step instructions as if you are standing here next to me - taking me by hand so to speak.

If you are able to do this, either in an email or perhaps a chat or phone call, then I guess I'm stuck.  Thank you Mr. Mayor, for your efforts though, it is appreciated.

Please let me know if you can do any of the above suggestions (I realize you can't be here w/me - just the other suggestions).

    Thanks very much,
