Since it originally came with a new computer then the license type you have is called OEM.

For OEM licenses, the product key is not going to be on a yellow-orange sticker, it will be on a "Certificate of Authenticity" card or sticker-label that would have been in the same package with the discs.  (The yellow-orange sticker is used with retail licensed products.)

Sometimes it is on card stock that is about the same size as a CD jewel case, and loosely packaged with the discs.

Simetimes affixed to an envelope like this:  http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Microsoft-Works-Suite-2001-6-CD-set-COA-/00/s/MTYwMFgxNTg4/$(KGrHqZHJC!E8fiKjimjBPJOJsdIFQ~~60_35.JPG

Any Works Suite edition will ask for a product key because Works Suite editions have Microsoft Word in them, and the PK is for Word.

Non-Suite editions of Works do no use a product key, they install right from the disc with no PK.

Generally Works Suites will have at least 5 CDs and sometimes upwards of 8 CDs.  Is it possible that you have mixed up products from other editions or versions of Works?

Did you buy this product in traditional retail pretty box packaged disc form, or did this come with a computer that you purchased?
