Error: The function you are attempting to run contains macros or content that requires macro language support.____

This error shows up at launch of Word:  "This error usually occurs because of macro security settings. If you know that the macro comes from a source that you trust, you can change your macro security settings to allow you to enable the macro. The way that you change your macro security settings depends on the Microsoft Office System program that you are using."  No macros settings were offered at installation, but each time Word is launched, this error message, followed by instructions to fix it in the Trust Center Settings area appears, requiring that it be dismissed 3 times before Word can be used. Following the Trust Center Settings does not fix the problem.  Help!!

Same problem here. In windows 7, go to control panel, programs and features, highlight microsoft office 2010, then at the top of the window click change. In the pop-up window, click add or remove features. Go down to office shared features. Extend that list and next to Visual Basic for Applications check "run from my computer." Let it do its thing, takes a minute or so. Now word should start without the error message. thanks for the tip.

Actually, this error seems to go away using the "Add or Remove Features" option from the Add/Remove Programs (or Programs and Featuresin the newer OSes) control panel applet, going to the bottom of the list of available options (Office Tools) and adding Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) option.

After reinstalling and selecting this option, the problem went away for us.

Start Word using default settings You can use the /a switch to start Word by using only the default settings in Word. When you use the /a switch, Word does not load any add-ins. Additionally, Word does not use your existing Normal.dotm template. Restart Word by using the /a switch. Step 1: Start Word 2007 by using the /a switch Windows Vista and Windows 7

    1. Exit Word.
    2. Click Start

. 3. In the Start Search box, type the following text, and then press ENTER.

    For Word 2007:

    "%programfiles%\microsoft office\office12\winword.exe" /a

    For Word 2010:

    "%programfiles%\microsoft office\office14\winword.exe" /a

    Windows XP

    1. Exit Word.
    2. Click Start, and then click Run.
    3. In the Open box, type the following text, and then press ENTER.

    in Word 2007:

    "%programfiles%\microsoft office\office12\winword.exe" /a

    In Word 2010:

    "%programfiles%\microsoft office\office14\winword.exe" /a

If you hold down the Ctrl key when starting Word, to put it into Safe Mode, does the problem disappear?

What, exactly, did you attempt to do in the Trust Center Settings?

Did you install Office 2010 over an earlier version, or is this a completely clean install?

What other Office-related software have you installed?

well, I had the exact same issue. I found that the error message was triggered by a lame add-in that got installed by mistake. going to 'options' and disabling flawed Add-ins effectively solved the problem. I didn't have to re-install office.

    hopefully, it'll help somebody.
