getting errors when Consolidating Data from 6 sheets to a master sheet

I am trying to consolidate my data within my workbook. I have about 6 different sheets, all with the same row labels. I want to consolidate the data to a new sheet, which will be a master sheet, containing all of my data from the 6 other sheets. I also want to link the sources. When I try to consolidate the data, even on a small level (column A from one sheet and column A from another sheet) on the master sheet I receive the first error message of unable to link sources. When I uncheck the box i then receive source reference overlaps destination are. Do you know what this means and how I can fix it?? I am using Excel 2011 for a mac

If you need to do that you should only have a single source and then make a pivot table out of that to view subsets or just filter to get the subset you want.

so to be clear, you would just have your single combined sheet of data.

it sounds like you want to be able to make a change in either location and have it reflect in the other location.  You could probably do that with code, but it sounds like the long way around the block to me.

    Hi, what do you mean with sources, could you provide a sample of your data and which are the results required

    Thank you very much!! This was very helpful. Now I just need to figure out how I can link the sources to the summary sheet, so that if I update something on the summary sheet or the master sheet it will update on the corresponding sheet. Let me know if you have any ideas
