Microsoft Office Excel Office 12.

In my Program Files I have a folder named  'Microsoft Office '. Within this is just one folder named   'Office 12' ( this I understand means Microsoft Office 2007). When opening up this folder I observe many applications and extensions applicable to Office 2007 but I cannot use Office 2007 because  C:\ Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\Excel.exe cannot be found.

I notice when viewing Programs through Control Panel >Programs and Features that only the Microsoft Office Excel Viewer and Microsoft Office Power Point Viewer are shown as actual programs/features.

If I am unable to use Office 2007 can I delete everything except the two viewers without affecting other activities because I feel I am taking up too much space on OS(C:)

Thanks in anticipation of response.

In the Office12 folder what applications are shown? eg winword.exe?

In explorer what size is shown for Properties of Office12?

Do you have an actual Office 2007 cd and its Key?

As in order to have an Office12 folder you must have had Office installed at some point

In Program & Features is any Office Trial or Activation Assistant shown?

Do NOT delete program files/folders in explorer

    Hello,

With my limited knowledge of computers  I will attempt to answer your questions in the order you asked them.

    The following applications(.EXE)  are shown:- excelcnv.exe, XLVIEW.exe, PPTVIEW.exe, Wordconv.exe, MSOHTMED.exe, Moc.exe, PPCNVCOM.exe, Oice.exe.

Size of Office12 as shown in Properties is 65.7MB (Size on Disc 65.8MB) consists of 2 Folders (27 Files).

I Do NOT have an actual Office 2007 cd and its key.

As far as I am aware I never purchased any version of Office. Could this have been included in my Dell purchase some few years back with Vista pre-installed. I have since upgraded to Windows 7. Can this be the reason?

In Control Panel>Programs and Features there are NO Office Trials or Activation Assistants shown . Only Microsoft Office Excel Viewer and Power Point Viewer 2007 (English) are listed.

Some extra info I can provide, whether relevant or not, is that when opening OFFICE 12 folder, the first file is called just '1033' and contains just  five .DLL Application extensions as follows:-

    PPINTL.DLL, PPVWINTL.DLL, XLINTL32.DLL. XLLEX.DLL, XLVINTL32.DLL.

In conclusion, as stated above, I did not purchase the product and simply would like to know if by deleting everything except Excel Viewer and Power Point Viewer Viewer 2007 would affect other programs within my operating system?

Sorry, I have been incorrect with part of my reply. In Control Panel>Programs and Features, there is a further listing shown as 'Compatability Pack for 2007 Office System'( Version 12.0.6612.1000). This has had numerous automatic updates ( e. g. KB2596948) applied since installation. Does this info help you at all?

    Hello Palcouk,

Did you receive my reply to your questions ? I would like to continue with this matter if at all possible.
