Save the document as a ZIP file (to the desktop for example).

Double click that ZIP file to open its components in an Explorer window.

Double click the folder you wish to inspect (for example word).

Double click the file you wish to inspect (for example document.xml).

The document last selected should now appear in an Internet Explorer tab.

How do you do this if Word 2010 doesn't have a "Save as Zip file" option?
