Can I remove summary task bars (and other graphical items) from a Gantt chart in MS Project 2010 Standard and if so, how do I do it?  For example, I need to keep the diamonds to show the milestones, but I do not need to graphically display the summary task bars or the relationships lines.

Thanks for your help!

    Hi Megan,

You may turn off the display of summary tasks by de-selecting Summary Tasks on the Format ribbon in the Gantt chart view.

However, it sounds like you'd like to show just Milestone tasks.  The default Milestones Filter does display summary tasks, but you can either edit the filter or create a new one.  To create a new "Milestone without Summary" filter:

    1. View Ribbon, Filter drop-down and select "More Filters" to open the More Filters dialog
    2. Find the Milestone filter in the list and click the Copy button to open the Filter Definition dialog.
    3. Give the filter a new name.
    4. De-select "Show related summary rows".
    5. Click OK to close the Filter definition dialog and return to the More Filters dialog.
    6. Click the Apply button to apply the new filter.

    I hope this helps.

    Julie

You shouldn't have to change the "show drawings" - the trick is the links without arrows.

    Julie,

I figured it out.  On the Gantt Chart, I had to right click and go to "layout."  I then selected the picture showing links without the arrows and then at the bottom of the dialog box, I de-selected "show drawings."

Right click on the Gantt chart graphic and choose, Layout.  Select the first option to remove the display of the link lines.

    Thanks Julie,

I was able to remove the summary tasks from the Gantt chart by de-selecting "Show related summary rows," but I still see the relationship lines (i.e. Finish to start from one milestone to another).  Is there a way I can remove the graphical relationship lines in the Gantt chart?  If I can do that, my Gantt chart would look exactly how I need it.

    Thanks!

    Megan
