I need to import a Lotus Approach database into Access.   According to Acc2000 article it states that I need to import Lotus into a file format that is compatable with Access.  How do I do this?  I know how to import into Access once the file in recognized by Access.

You'll be able to get the data into Access if you can first export it from Approach into a compatible format - Excel spreadsheet, dBase file, comma-separated-value text. However, the user interface (how Approach displays the data and allows you to search) is utterly different between the programs and will have to be built from scratch.

    Actually is says

"Before you can import data from Lotus Approach into Access, you must first export the data into a file format that is compatible with Microsoft Access.  "

That means from the Lotus Approach application, export the data into something Access can wotk with likedBASE, Excel or CSV files.  Access cannot work with the Lotus Approach data directly.

what I did I made a new worksheet in approach with all the fields that I needed, then simple copy and paste into a new excel sheet.  you still need to rename your fields accordingly, but still it is worth it :)

As I recall, Approach used the dBase dbf format. So you can just link to the dbf files or import them.
