Trying to set the default font that is used to print labels - I "see" the correct font in the dialogue box, but that's not what ends up being printed.

Thanks

By default, the font used on labels is that defined in the Normal Style.  If you do not want to modify the font used in the Normal Style, you will need to click on the New Document button in the Labels dialog so that you get a new document containing a table (that's all labels are in Word) and then use CTRL+a to select everything and change the font to that which you want to use.

    Hello,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for posting the question.

From your description, I understand that you’re unable to print labels in desired font

I will assist you to resolve this issue, however I need additional information:

    a) Are you able to view correct font in the preview?

    b) Which font are you trying to print in and does your printer support it?

Let’s try the following and verify the result:

    1. Start Word. Navigate to the options and select File tab.
    2. In the left pane, select Options and Advanced.
    3. Under Editing options, place a check in the Prompt to update style check box.
    4. Scroll down to the Save heading.
    5. Under Save, place a check in the Prompt before saving Normal template check box and OK.
    6. Select the Mailings tab and click the Envelopes button.
    7. Click Options to change the font of the delivery address:
    8. Under Delivery address, click on Font.
    9. Use the list boxes and drop-down lists to select the font you want as default.
    10. Set the font as default, click the Set As Default button and click on Yes.
    11. To change the font of the return address:
    12. Under Return address, click the Font... button.
    13. Use the list boxes and drop-down lists to select the font you want as default.
    14. Set the font as default and click the Set As Default button.
    15. Click the Yes button.
    16. Click OK.
    17. Close the Envelopes and Labels window.
    18. Exit Word.
    19. If prompted to save changes to the document: click the Don't Save button.
    20. When prompted to save changes to the global template normal, click the Save button.
    21. The default font for envelopes is now set.

Note: If the return address font does not appear to change, in the Envelopes and Labels window, click the Add to Document button.

If issue still persists, change the default printer to Microsoft XPS Document Writer and try printing virtually and see if it helps:

I hope the above suggestions helps to resolve your issue. Take your time to try the suggestion and let me know the results at your earliest convenience.

    Thank You

    Daniel,

I am working in Office 2013 Home & Business.

I have followed the steps shown above but step 25 does not appear - save to the global template normal.

So, after I have changed the Font settings in the Label to Arial, Regular, 12 size.  Click on Set As Default, choose All documents based on the Normal template.  Then OK to save the Font settings.  Then Cancel to close the Envelopes and Labels window.  Close Word and do not save.

Wait 60 seconds and then Open Word - settings have moved back to the default settings.

I did make this setting change, but it did not affect the Labels:

Right click on Normal Style, left click on Modify.  Change the Formatting Setting to Arial, 12.  Click the radio button for "New documents based on this template".  Click OK.

Any suggestions as to what I can do next?  The user is an Administrator on the computer.

    Thank you.

Try starting word without any Add-Ins using the /a switch. What happens then (first method above)?

For more, see Add-Ins in Microsoft Word.

What if you want to change the font for labels, rather than envelopes?
