Go to the Mailings tab of the ribbon and then in the Create section, click on Labels and then on Options and make sure that the Page printers radio button is checked and then from the Label Vendors drop down, select Avery US Letter and then scroll down to need the bottom of the Product Number list and you will find 8387 Postcards.  Select it and then click on OK and then probably New Document to get a page that contains a 2 x 2 table with cells the dimensions of those labels.

In Word, labels are just tables with fixed cell dimensions.  Therefore, if you want more than one page, just press the tab key when in the last cell (of the table) on the page.

Tables with cells of fixed dimensions can't be rotated that way. In some cases there is a label definition for the other orientation; for example, Avery 3263, 3268, 3377, 3379, 3380, 3381, 5315, 5689, 8315, 8317, 8383, 8387, and 8577 have four landscape postcards (or "note cards") on a landscape page, while Avery 5845 has four portrait note cards on a portrait page. If you select Microsoft as the vendor, you'll see that most of the selections have both portrait and landscape options. Absent those options, you'll have to create a new label definition with the dimensions you need for landscape printing. Alternatively, you can use the portrait layout and rotate the text in the table cells.

    Hello Mr. Robbins,

Thank you for the great directions on choosing the Avery 8387 setting.

Is there any way to save this as a favorite setting so I don't have t go through all those steps every time I wish to use this format.  Or, would you suggest setting up a Table in Word with the same dimensions as the Avery paper.

If you rotate the page, you will need to swap the height and width of the cells in the table.

This worked for me so thank you. I would like to know however, why the table dimensions change when I change orientation to landscape mode? I would expect the whole document to simply rotate 90 degrees. In portrait orientation, I had four evenly sized cells, two per row. When I switched to landscape orientation, I got a column with three small cells on the left, and a second column on the right with one cell still in portrait orientation.
