I purchased microsoft office 2010 from my employer so I don't have any discs.  They provided me with an activation code.  My desktop needed to be replaced so I wanted to uninstall it from my desk top and install it onto my new laptop.  How can I do this?

    Hi,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community and I’ll be glad to assist you with the installation of Office 2010 on the new computer, however I need some more information about the same.

    1. Which version of Office 2010 did you purchase (Office Home and Student 2010, Office Home and Business 2010, Office Professional 2010)?
    2. Did you purchase Office 2010 suite as product key card or the traditional retail copy?

If it is a traditional retail copy, you may refer to the backup link to download Office 2010:

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/microsoft-office-2010-backup-FX101853122.aspx

If you purchased Office 2010 as product key card then the Office Product Key Card can only be installed on one PC. If you ever need to reinstall Office you can do so on the same PC on which Office was originally installed and the license cannot be transferred to any other computer.

For more information related to software licensing you may refer the link given below:

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-software-license-terms-for-microsoft-office-2010-HA101817777.aspx

I hope the above information helps with the installation of Office 2010. If you need any further information related to Office applications you can always reply and I’ll be happy to help you.

    Thank you.

It very much depends on what Licence and or Version of Office 2010 that you were provided with.

In the first instance see if your Key is verified here

    If so download/install

Thanks for the great suggestions.  I purchased my copy of Microsoft Office retail but have moved several times since then, so I can't find the disk, product package or confirmation email.  How can I find the necessary product information so that I can figure out if I can transfer it to another machine?
