Hi,

A quick question. Is it possible that the ID of a shape in powerpoint may not be unique? If yes, is there a way to always identify a shape uniquely?

Thanks!

Per slide.

Each slide object can contain a collection of shape objects.  Each element of the collection (ie, each shape) will have a unique ID (and in theory a unique name, but that's pretty well broken, so don't count on it).

Likewise a presentation object can contain a collection of slide objects, each with a unique ID.

Oh okay! I was under the impression that the shape ID is unique throughout the presentation. Thanks a lot for clearing things up :-).

    Thanks!

In theory, the shape id will be unique.

It's always possible that something might get corrupted and produce multiple shapes with the same ID, but under normal circumstances, the ID is trustworthy.
