Original Title: Error message in Word Options

I get this message: 'The server drafts location you entered for offline editing is not valid or you do not have permission to access this location. Specify a location on your local computer.' - This is my own Personal Computer.

I think I may have created this problem myself by renaming my folder in Libraries with my first name instead of my surname! I have since found that this is not the place to do this but no-one I have asked can tell me how to reverse it. I use my laptop for demonstrating how to use word to seniors at Seniornet, it was when I was showing how to add shortcuts to the Quick Access Toolbar in Word options I got the above message. This problem is a nusance and I would really lik to resolve it. It was suggested that I take the computer back to a restore point but as I have never done this I am afraid i might make matters worse. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Activate the File tab of the ribbon, then click Options.

Select Save in the navigation pane on the left hand side.

In the "Offline editing options ..." section, you'll see a path for the "Server drafts location".

Click Browse... and point to a valid folder on your computer.

In File>Options>Save, select the radio button for The Office Document Cache under Offline editing options for document management server files.

Also select check the box for "Save to computer by default" under the Save documents section

Does this usually fix the issues. I have lost some data.

I feel silly that I changed the offline editting. If this happens again - do you just run a repair or do a complete uninstall of the product?

This is a standalone version. I usually never delve into this area - I just wish to have my work autosaved every so often - is there a safer way?
