Speech recognition features are not available in the 2007 Microsoft Office system programs.
To use speech recognition features, run Windows Speech Recognition in Windows Vista. For information, see the links in the See Also section.
Notes
* If your operating system is Microsoft Windows XP, you must run a previous version of a Microsoft Office system program to use speech recognition features.
* In Microsoft Office Excel 2007, you can use text-to-speech functionality, which is different from speech recognition. To use text-to-speech commands, see I can't convert text to speech, which includes the information.

With the exception of Microsoft Office Excel, text-to-speech (TTS), the ability of your computer to play back written text as spoken words, has become a function of Windows XP, Windows Vista and Win7. Depending on your configuration and installed TTS engines, you can hear most text that appears on your screen from any program, including Office programs.

This is a very important questions for you to answer. Problems and potential fixes are directly related to specific versions. MS is constantly introducing small changes to Windows and Office. If you give us specific information, we can give you specific fix suggestions.
Please remember that Windows and Office build on prior versions. So, a fix that works in an older version can often be applied to a newer version if it is adapted for changes in the menu systems.

First panel, System Summary presents most of the same info as Control panel system info, except for Product ID. It includes a great deal more detailed info.
