Office 365 is different than the "traditional" local installs you are used to. The winword.exe program is not actually "installed" on the computer any more. Office 365 runs inside a "virtual" computer that has the marketing name "click to run". You can
no longer point to the exe file.
I think you are going to have to use an adaptation of the following technique, but I have not seen the specific version for 2013
Running a command-line switch against the Virtualization Handler
This may all sound very technical and confusing, the solution is actually quite simple as you only really have to look up and copy 1 additional reference containing both a location and a number.
- Right click on the Outlook shortcut in the Start Menu and choose Properties.
- Copy the entire path as reported in the “Target” field.
- Paste the command in the Run box or in the Search field of the Windows Start Menu (windows Vista and Windows 7 only).
- Set your cursor all the way to the end of the pasted command
- Type a space after the command.
- Type the command-line switch of your choice as usual.
Examples
Below you’ll find examples of a full Run command to start Outlook with the
/safe and /resetnavpane switch.
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Virtualization Handler\CVH.EXE" "Microsoft Outlook 2010 9014006204090000" /safe
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Virtualization Handler\CVH.EXE" "Microsoft Outlook 2010 9014006204090000" /resetnavpane
9014006204090000 - this number appears to be a constant for 2010 CTR
Executing the safe switch for Outlook Click-to-Run on Windows 7.
Document 'Not Found' Error using CTR
In the case of Office 2010, installed with Click to Run technology, there is no conventional file structure relating to Office on the C: drive (as shown in the illustrations below). The installation uses instead
a virtual Q: drive.
"Microsoft Office Client Virtualization Handler" will appear in the list of programs. Associate the Office files with that
