Print 2 pages side-by-side on single sheet in Word 2003

I'm running Word 2003 under Windows 2000 Professional.

I'm trying to remember how to print two pages of a document side by side in landscape mode on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper.

The idea is to create half sheet flyers.

I've done this before but have forgotten what the trick is.  I have an old text file of instructions that I saved a while back.  But one step eludes me:

  1. In MS Word, copy  page 1 of the flyer onto page 2

(You may want to put a page break in between)

and then save your new file as [Flyer Name] 2UP.doc.

  1. From the  File>Print Menu,  change to landscape mode:

   Print > Properties > Layout > Landscape.

  1. Print > Zoom > Pages per sheet >  2
  2. Print > Zoom > scale to size > Letter

It's that step 2 that doesn't work for me.

I can't find that "Layout" option.

Can someone help me figure out where it is?

Step 2 should not be needed at all. When you select 2 pages per sheet in step 3, Word automatically rotates and reduces the document. Try it to see if it works that way for you.

If the document doesn't come out correctly, then step 2 should work like this: Click the Properties button (to the right of the printer name dropdown). The dialog this button opens is different for each printer manufacturer, and sometimes for each model, so I can't tell you exactly where to look. There may not be anything labeled "Layout", but somewhere in that dialog you'll find option buttons or a dropdown for choosing Portrait or Landscape.

    Bingo!

    That did the trick!

    Many thanks, Jay!
