I have a large word project and I am trying toi move some blocks of text around. The problem is that the blocks have both footnotes and endnotes, and every time I try to cut and paste or copy and paste I lose all of the footnotes and endnotes. Is there any way to do this without having to go back and manually reinsert each citation?

The problem is either my computer or a program that is interfering with Word. If I highlight and use the mouse for cut and paste, I don't get the citations. If I highlight and use the command keys , the citations are copied and pasted along with the text. Peculiar, but it works.

You shouldn't lose them. If you copy text that includes footnote or endnote reference marks and paste it elsewhere, the footnotes and endnotes will come with it--unless you're using Paste Special to paste as unformatted text.
Maybe I shouldn't, but I am. I am highlighting the text, using "Cut" with the right mouse button, then "Paste" also with the right mouse button in the appropriate spot. Even if I highlight and use Control + C I am still losing the citations.
I have checked for updates and I seem to be using the latest version of Word 2010, but the problem persists.
Were the footnotes/endnotes created in Word using References Insert Footnote/Endnote? If so, then the note reference mark in the text actually holds the content of the note, and it will travel with the selection.
If this is not working, then I'd be curious to look at a portion of the problem document.
