Adding a caption to a figure/picture in PowerPoint 2010.

I am using Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 to create a scientific research poster. I am adding figures to the slide as pictures. I would like to add captions to the figure/picture objects. I find that Microsoft Word 2010 has direct support for captions with the "Insert Caption" feature. Does Microsoft PowerPoint have an analogous feature to add captions?

As a work-around I find that I can create text boxes and manually position them adjacent to the pictures. I can also manually create the text content and label. This technique does not preseve the relationship between the text box and the picture in the same way that a caption is handled in Word.

Test System: Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 (14.0.5128.5000)

    User 01,

There is no such feature in PPT like you have in Word. But if you are making your own textbox you can group it with the picture. Then you can move around your picture and the textbox will follow. Providing the picture is not in a placeholder that is, you can't group objects with a placeholder.

Though if you added pictures via the photo album feature, say on multiple slides, you could later copy/paste them onto the slide where you're assembling the main poster and get the benefit of Photo Album-created captions.

Personally, I'd add the photos, add the text and group.

You can only add captions (and in fact they are really just grouped as Luc says) to Photo ALBUMS not to normal images as the original poster was clearly using to create a poster.

Yes you are capable of adding captions to you photos on PPT. Follow the instructions on this link. I know it's probably too late considering I'm reading and answerng to this 2 years later but for future reference or for anybody who lands on here while researching how to do this. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/powerpoint-help/add-a-caption-to-a-picture-in-a-photo-album-HA010338261.aspx

Thanks for the quick reply and confirmation that PPT does not explictly support captions. I will make use of grouping for the work-around techniques.
