microsoft excel cannot paste the data

Hi,

I've read through the posts that are already refering to this error but none of them seem applicable.

I do not have Skype on my work PC and there are no merged cells

Basically up until yesterday I was able to copy and paste using Ctrl C and Ctrl V from one excel spreadsheet to another in different windows.

Since yesterday it has been saying cannot paste the data.

I rolled back the versions of the spreadsheets to the begining of the week when they were working fine but it's happening again. Also it sometimes works when I first open the sheet but then stops.

I did the cell styles count and for some reason both sheets (different completely) are showing the same about of styles 62043?

May be relevant - it's also asking me if I want to update date sources when I open now?

This may not be the solution in your case but it was in mine:

I was getting the same error message.

Tried everything here and nothing worked.

Realized I had the 2 files open in separate excel windows (I had 2 instances of Excel running).

Closed one and re-opened it in the same Excel window as the other one.

Copy and pasted without a problem.

    Hi

    Error:

I tried opening a new sheet and then copy and paste into the sheet, but get this error:

and the only formatting is colour.

I have had my laptop re-imaged and still no good.

My work around is to right click and paste special, as text and that allows me to paste. but loose the colour formatting

Just to add to this I have found that even Cutting lines and pasting in the same sheet, it is picking up on values in other lines and inserting lines is doing funny things as well, pasting data form other lines raqther than just inserting blank lines!

    Thanks,

    Gus :)

    Hi Jeremy,

Do you face this issue with a specific Excel file?

If yes, you may copy the content of the file to a new Excel file and verify the status.

If the issue occurs with all Excel file you may start the application in safe and check if it works fine:

Click Start, type ‘excel /safe’ without quotes in search program and files and hit enter.

Note: There is a space between the word ‘Excel’ and forward slash.
