Link to Office 2004 download

I had MS Office for Mac 2004 installed on my Imac, and the disk crashed.  I do not have the disks; however, I do have a product key.  Is there any way to install.  I have upgraded my OS to Mountain Lion.  I have found various downloads for upgrades; tried one and got a message that Power PC is no longer supported.  Is there any way to get the download for this, and if so, will it even work?

Also, is there any way to get a free trial of Office for Mac 2011?  That would also work.  I can get the disk and a product code within a week, but I am looking for something to tide me over.

Thanks.

Don't waste your time -- even if Office 2004 were available for download it cannot be installed on OS X 10.7 or later. Apple withdrew support for PowerPC software & discontinued the required Rosetta emulator that enabled it to run on Intel Macs.

What you've been finding are updates to Office 2004, not upgrades. Updates are "tune ups" that improve compatibility/performance/etc. of a specific version. They require that the base installation of the version to which they pertain be installed. IOW, you cannot apply an Office 2004 update if Office 2004 isn't installed.

Having upgraded your OS you need to upgrade your software accordingly. An upgrade is a newer version/release of the actual software. Office 2011 is the most recent release of Mac Office & will operate on any current version of OS X, 10.5.8 or later.

Office 365 is now the only way to acquire a trial of Microsoft Office for Mac 2011. It's fully functional for 30 days. If not activated during that time it will turn into a read-only allow you to still open documents but not edit.

The only way to get the product key to work is to get an older version of OS X on your MAC.

You could call the Apple store and ask if they have OS X 10.6 available so you can run MS Office 2014, they'd wipe everything off your HDD as they would fresh install the 10.6 on your MAC -- starting with OS X 10.7 the software required to run MS OFFICE 2004 was no longer available.

Many would say this is not a great solution and I would agree but there is no other way to get your 2004 Office to run.  Microsoft no longer provides support for it either.

Your new MacBook Air will be an Intel device and won't run older PowerPC software such as Office for Mac 2004. Apple stopped making PowerPC Macs more than five years ago.

I recommend you look into purchasing Office for Mac 2011 or subscribing to Office 365.

There is no official download link for Office for Mac 2004.

    Check the thread below:

I could not find any trial for Office for Mac 2011 either.

However you may subscribe to Office home premium 365 and use it free for one month .
