Microsoft and ePub

Hello

I would love to know if Microsoft's Office Desktop Publishing Suite will ever support and integrate ePub/ePub3. Sincerely, I have tried using Adobe Indesign but I end up with a throbbing forehead, QuarkXpress is not that different. An office ePub maker from the scratch or integrated with Microsoft Office will really be a game changer for making PROFESSIONAL ebooks in the ePub format especially. Microsoft, please.

There is an add in for Word which should do the trick:

    http://toxaris.nl/

Or you can use this tool:

    Kind regards

What exactly do you mean by "Office Desktop Publishing Suite"? Are you referring to Word or Publisher or something else? Given the current popularity of self-publishing in digital format, this is not a bad idea (probably for Word), and I can pass it along to the product team.

I know about Calibre but then I think Word being able to output ePub/ePub 3 will be a deal stealer! I know Word can do it. Word Can Do It!

    :)

P.S.: I could not submit this with IE 11 but I did with Chrome. Please look into this.

I would LOVE this too. It would be beautiful to save a word doc in ePub format.

While you are at it, how about .mobi as well for the Kindle?

With the rapid rise of self-publishing, Microsoft has got to add these capabilities to stay competitive.

I do a lot of publishing, and so many people are telling me to dump Word and move to Scrivener because it easily saves to ePub and Mobi formats. I still think Word is more powerful and the publishing industry standard, but to keep it that way, Word has got to include an easy a way to output a validated ePub file, (and Mobi too!).

In other words, It will be a "GOOD" thing if Microsoft can include in the Office Suite, a program that creates interactive ePub/3 from .doc/.docx files or a stand alone program for creating professional ePub/3 files.

Currently, there is Adobe InDesign 6  and QuarkXPress and some other manipulative software.

I'm sure I am not the only one that is expectant if it can be passed along to the product team and something fruitful comes through.

I actually meant the Microsoft Office Suite of desktop applications. Thank you.
