Robert P. asked on August 27, 2012:  How can I install Office for Mac 2011 in a different language?  He purchased Office for Mac 2011 in English, but he wants to use it in another language.  Which languages does Office for Mac 2011 come in and how can he change the language of the interface?

Cody C. replied:  Language packs and language interface packs are not available at this time (August 2012).

Gary R. (me) wants to know: Is this still the case?  I need one in Chinese/Traditional.

    To Bob:

Cody is saying it correctly Please read the technote you provided Titled: Changing the default Language for Office programs -...  it seems the last sentence in the first paragraph says: "Language packs and language interface packs are not available at this time." Its seems the author of the technote is the one fibbing not Cody.

Until MS Decides to do a total rewrite of Office word (under the hood) to same type code for example Outlook is built with there never will be Language packs.

Yes, it still is the case. I can understand how Cody's wording may have suggested otherwise, but AFAIK there are no indications of any plans to provide language packs for existing versions of Mac Office.

My guess is that if a multilingual edition is planned it most likely will be an inclusion to a future major release & will not be a 'retrofit' to prior versions.

Changing the default *language* for *Office* programs - *mac*.microsoft **...**

Just to be clear, we're talking about the language of the User Interface design... menus, screen tips, Help files, etc., right? Not the ability to type documents in the Chinese language. If you aren't already aware, you can produce documents in Chinese even though the UI is English. See:

Turn on *Chinese* language features - *mac*.microsoft.com
