OneNote does not understand a French Accent

On every OneNote version I have used the shortcut CTRL+ ' produces a grave accent whereas in Word it produces an acute accent as it should. CTRL+` has no affect at all in OneNote but correctly produces a grave accent in Word. Is there any chance that Microsoft will get round to repairing this error because I have to type a fair amount in French on an English keyboard. By the way I know the alternatives; I would just like it to work correctly. I know its a minor point but presumably it is not that difficult to repair.

Thanks, Marcus. I think the short cut keys are programmed by Office.  Wordpad seems to work in the same way as OneNote; perhaps WordPad is the basis of OneNote rather than Word. Outlook works the same way as Word. Internet Explorer seems not to permit accents.

The accented letters are available as symbol inserts and as ALTnum(ber pad) in OneNote but they slow up my typing.

I like OneNote and use it a lot; it's a shame it does not do everything Word does ( my other wish would be to be able to cite references as in Word).

I realise this is a very minor issue but thanks for your time.

    Regards, Colin Hand

If it did, it would be Word, not OneNote.

For inserting a symbol easily, check this post on creating a macro to do that: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010-onenote/customize-quick-access-toolbar-to-include-legal/4a063f0a-3aef-46c5-b900-44c4e37379cb

Then you can add it to your quick access toolbar and access it with Alt + num shortcut. See more details on how to set it up here: http://omeratay.com/onetastic/?i=shortcuts-for-macros

    Check with onscreen keyboard.

You may also check the same with other applications (Wordpad\Internet explorer etc).

Keyboard layout has to do much with OS and not much with Office programs.
