A family of Microsoft products that enable users to capture, organize, and reuse notes electronically.
You can think of OneNote as a "digital scratchpad" vs Word which is more like a "digital typewriter". It allows you much more freedom when creating entries than a product like Word.
OneNote
OneNote is a digital notebook that allows you to gather and organize your notes and information. You can organize text, pictures, digital handwriting, audio, video, and more, in one notebook. It provides powerful search capabilities to easily find information and you can share your notebooks and work together with others more efficiently. Below are some tips and tricks for using OneNote, such as importing Evernote files into OneNote, using OneNote to memorize information easier, saving OneNote documents in different formats, among other useful tips. We also provide a guide to getting started with OneNote 2010.

OneNote 2010 (and 2007) ships with a number of "getting started" note books (I don't see them in 2013, but I suspect they may be there also). Notes like "Getting Started with OneNote.one" and "More Cool Features.one" and "OneNote Guide.one"

MS Office Mathematics Plug-in Solve equations in Word and OneNote

This official free plugin by Microsoft is simply amazing. This is for Word and OneNote 2007 & 2010. Those who use OneNote already know that if u enter a simple arithmetic equation it calculates automatically. such as "2+3=5". This plugin goes beyond this. you can enter any equation with any number of variables and it can either solve for all the variables, plot 2D or 3D graphs. you can enter a table of data and plot simple graphs. Calculates complex arithmetic, integration, differentiation, complex integrals, etc.
Very simple to use, enter the equation in Equation editor and right click the equation and select the calculation to perform. for multiple equations, select multiple equations. It recognises subscripts as variables and superscripts as powers. I have found this plugin very useful for my university work. Really this is for anyone who works with a lot of math.
Hope you find this plugin very useful.
Thanks,
