How to prevent adding ‘Copy of’ when using Save As

When I choose menu option ‘File | Save as’ Access prefixes the name with ‘copy of’ which I seldom want and have to edit out. Is there a setting where I can remove this behaviour? Thank you

It is an inconvenience, because I need to press the home key to go to the start of the name and press the delete key 8 times to delete 'copy of ' , which are all extra keystrokes that should not be necessary

I usually want to edit the existing name into a new but similar name. Therefore pressing {home} and the delete key 8 times to delete 'copy of ' are all extra keystrokes that should not be necessary.

Surely there is a registry key which I can edit to get rid of this superfluous text?

To the best of my knowledge, there's no such registry key.

When I do File > Save As the entire name is highlighted when the Save As pop up first happens...  Just start typing the new name...

There's no way that I'm aware of. However, given that you're going to assign a new name anyhow, I don't really see how it's that much of an inconvenience. :)
