What is Mac equivalent of the F4 shortcut that converts cell references, ie B5 to $B$5

Hello,

When using Excel in Windows, I frequently use the F4 key to convert a cell reference from... for example... B5 to $B$5.

However, I can't find any shortcut that does the same thing in Excel for the Mac.

In Windows, the steps are like this....

  1. using a mouse, click on any cell where you want data to be displayed.
  2. type the equals sign
  3. now using the mouse, click on the cell that will be the source of data
  4. Press F4
  5. press enter
  6.  the first cell will now show the reference to the source cell as a constant, with dollar signs before both the letter and the number, as in $B$5

Surely there is an equivalent on the Mac, but I've been unable to find it.

Thank you,

Keith

In my understanding we have to try to give useful answers and not academic ones. For me the answer is "COMMAND + T" it works fine.

    Thx

Cmd-T is the ticket.  The other guy was trying to teach us how to fish.  Sometime the fish is faster.

Unless you have changed this in keyboard preference setting:

You do this you don't have to use the fn Key.

Thank you very much.  It is interesting that wasn't my experience when I searched for "F4" in a number of sources including the two you mentioned and I appreciate your help.
