I have just bought a laptop that already has windows 8 pre installed. I installed works 8.5 as I need word processor for documents, I can create new documents, but I am unable to open files from my USB...? Please help! It just goes straight to an option of buying Microsoft office...?

Have I gone wrong some where?

You need to copy any docs from USB to your Libraries (My Documents) then start Works and open them from there.

You should also uninstall the preinstalled Office Trial version

If Works was supplied by your old PC maker, it may well be an OEM version, and as such its not licensed for use on a new PC
