Hello,

With Excel 2010 running on Windows 7, I just had to right click on the Microsoft Excel icon on my desktop go to properties and click "Run as an administrator".

With Excel 365 running on Windows 8, there is no Microsoft Excel icon on my desktop mode. How do I get that icon if necessary or how else do get Excel 365 to run as an administrator?

Thanks.

Gene

Same as Win 7 pretty much.  On the start screen, right click on Excel so that the icon is ticked.

Then pick "Run as administrator" from the toolbar that appears at the bottom of the screen.

Microsoft has made a rediculous decision that certain add-ins can not be disabled if you just run Excel.  you have to waste your time working out how to run Excel in a non standard way just to remove an add-in.

This makes no sense what so ever and is the cause of numerous calls to my tech support.

With click and run versions of Office this becomes even more difficult, at least on a "proper" installtion you can find the excel.exe and right click on it.

Just curious as to why you would need to run Excel "as administrator" in the first place?

I don't think I've ever needed to do that for any version of Office....

I need it to run certain Excel Add-ons such as ThinkorSwim (TOS) DDE links.
