I purchased Microsoft Works Suite 2000  with my desktop in 2000.  Can I transfer it to my new laptop using Windows 8?

OEM versions of Microsoft products such as Microsoft Works or Microsoft Office are not transferable from the computer they came preinstalled on or bundled with. Although there is nothing stopping you, I would be surprised if it even installs.

You might want to consider upgrading to a modern Office suite such as Office Home & Student 2013 or download a free productivity suite such as Libre Office, OpenOffice.org or use the free Microsoft Office Web Apps.

No, it is not compatible with Windows 8.

If you still have the original install disks you could

    try installing in Compatibility Mode.
