ESC key won't exit ppt presentation

When in presentation mode the ESC key will no longer exit back to normal mode. Cntrl+Alt+Del won't work either. the only way I can get out is to progress with the enter key to the end of the presentation. I tend to have very long presentation files that are used for multiple sessions so this is very unsatisfactory.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi Not sure if you resolved this issue, but this might help others who are looking. I have just started using Windows 8 with Office 2007 ppt and had the same issue. I found the solution by starting the slide show, right clicking and opening "Help". This pop-up window shows all the short cut keys. For some reason exiting a slideshow now has 3 different possible commands: ESc, Ctrl+break and the hyphen key "-" (on its own without parenthesis). My slide show exit command was the hyphen. Go figure.  What the purpose of changing tried and true commands for different versions of Windows OS is I have no idea, it just makes me cross...

    Hope this helps someone.

Do you have any add-ins installed? There is an add-in that eliminates the escape key.

I thought they may have been, (other options always there), but only the hyphen works for me, which is annoying, and yet another thing I have to reprogram my brain to remember with the change in OS. Why oh why do they have to change everything so much. It might be better for the kids of today, but it's so much harder for an old fart to learn new tricks! (and remember them)

ESc, Ctrl+break and the hyphen key "-"  have always been the exit shoiw shortcuts. ALL should work.
