I have a thumbdrive with a ppxt file on it.  When I double click I get the message that 'cannot open it'.  I have Microsoft PP 2013 on the computer.  When I open it and try to open the file it does not see the filr.  Should the PP 2013 be able to open the ppxt file on the thumbdribe?  Or what do I need to do?

Copy the file from your thumbdrive to the computer (ie, drag it to your  desktop so it's easy to find later).

Then start PowerPoint and choose File | Open

Browse to Desktop and choose your file.

    What happens next?

If it really has a .ppxt extension, that's likely the problem.  PowerPoint wants .pptx files

    Try renaming it.

Thank you for your reply.  My mistake, I mistyped.  The extension i .pptx.  But still the same problem.  When I try to select a program to open it there is no option for Power Point and none of the other programs will open it.
