In MS Word for Mac I cannot highlight more than a word at a time by dragging my mouse to select group of text. Now I can only select one word by double clicking on it. Just started happening.

If this just started happening where you cannot select multiple words via the method(s) you previously used... then I suggest you reboot the computer. It sounds to me like something has corrupted in the computer's memory.

Also make sure you fully update the software. Go to Word > Help > Check for Updates. And as the last preventative measure run Disk Utility.app (located in Applications/Utilities) and Repair Permissions on your primary drive.

    Hope this helps

As long as you hold mouse button or  click and hold down track pad while dragging you be able to select more than one word.

Alternative way to select more than one word at a time:

    1. Hold down Shift and Option Key and tap right arrow key the number of times you need to select desired words.
    2. Hold down Shift and Command Key and Tap Right arrow key selects entire line.
    3. Hold Down Shift and Command Key and down Key will select Paragraph or everything that has been typed.
