Object Library Not Registered

I've had Access 2003 for a long time as part of Office 2003 and am just starting to use it.  I started another thread about creating a music database and given a lot of info.  I think I need to get a lot more familiar with Access before undertaking that project.

Anyway, I thought I'd try to get my feet wet and create a very simple database of passwords.  The list was created in Excel 2003.  I opened Access, create a new blank database, then went to File/ Get External Data/ Import and selected the file created in Excel.  It comes back with "Error in loading DLL" and then "Object Library not Registered".  This is on my Win7 (64bit) machine.  I also have an old machine still running Win XPPro with the Office 2003 and it all works fine on that machine.  The funny thing is I can open the XP created file on Win7 Access and it works fine.

Any suggestions?

Dennis

Open the problem database and type Ctrl-G to open the VBA editor. On the menu select Tools... References. Are any of them marked MISSING? If so uncheck the checkbox by that reference, exit Access and try again.

This may well be a problem with the 64bit version: A2003 was written as a 32 bit application and there can be conflicts.

John - thank you for all your help.  I really appreciate it.

That did clear up the "Object Library Not Registered", but still get the other when I try to import from an external spreadsheet.  I seem to get a lot of "dll errors".  Things seem to work much better on the XP machine than the Win7.  Office 2010 did come pre-loaded on my Win7, but I've never activated the trial.

I did manage to get a music template working on the XP machine.  I have learned a few things and have made some changes to it.  I still haven't figured out how to do some things I'd like, but I'll keep plugging away.  I copied the file over to the Win7 machine and when opened I get "Compile Error: User-defined type not defined".  I click ok and close the VBA editor and all seems to work except it won't let me add a Report - get the "dll error".

I'm thinking I pretty much need to do all the work on XP or upgrade my Office 2003.

    Thanks again,

    Dennis
