365 activation

I had a similar poblem.  everl months passed beore I could instll 365 ofice.  Can i get an extension on the renew to cover non access months.  ANYONE KNOW WHO / HOW TO CONTACT M.S. ABOUT POBLEM.  I hear there is a free ware product available ???

May not be your problem -- just spent a week on an activation issue with Office /365; spent 2+ hours in chat with MS support team -- bounced from group to group with no results. Gave up. Logged in to check for the 20th time my account settings and tried one more thing: Dumped the 2 factor authentication and forced a password reset.

Activation worked just has it had before and all is well.

After seeing all the hoop to jump through I think I will buy a non M.S free ware and dump M.S..  All I wanted was a word program no hoops, etc.  Anyone have any experience with the free ware product.

• Inactivate the installation for the concerned computer from office.com/myaccount
• Search for any Office program from the start menu and  then right click ->Run as admin
• Try to activate again

The "reference number" may be your "Product ID".  Go into any Office 365 application > Help menu > Account command > About ??? button. Look near the top of the "About" dialog for "Product ID".

I recently used online chat support myself. I found it had several advantages over phone support, even though you still contact the same outsourced, support personnel:

• No ESL accent issues
• Provides instant time stamped transcript
• When you get transferred to the “right” person, they can review the history
• If they don’t read history, you can copy / paste the past conversation to them, saving you having to repeat yourself
• They are more likely to go off line to ask other people for help (good for you)
• You don’t have to listen to “elevator muzak” when they are off line
• You have 2 hands free to surf the web when they are not talking to you.

For some reason, I found that waiting for online chat responses intrinsically frustrating than listening to elevator muzak.

Make sure to copy the text from the chat window and save it before closing the chat window. It is handy to have a timestamped copy of the conversation, if only to publish it on the internet ... <evil grin>
