OneNote error "couldn't delete section group because there are non one-note files in the same folder"

Hi guys

I'm using OneNote 2013 and have recently encountered the error "We couldn't delete section group because there are non one-note files in the same folder. Try open the section group in file explorer, and move or delete all non one-note files. Then, delete the section group."

I would do exactly that, but my notebook is stored on OneDrive and I can't seem to access it except through OneNote and OneNote Online.

Any suggestions?

    I had the same issue.

This was resolved in my case by tricking OneNote. If you have your OneNote Notebook location in OneDrive you cannot reach it directly (at least I don't know how to do that).

The following steps allowed me to delete my section group:

    1. click right on the notebook and select properties
    2. in the Properties windows, select change location. This will open a file dialog that will let you view the contents on OneDrive including a folder with the same name as your section group.
    3. select the folder with the section group name and delete it.
    4. the section group can now be deleted from within OneNote and will not return.

    Hope this helps!

You should be able to access this folder from Onedrive or Onedrive App in Windows 8.1
