Import-VM - strange sporadic error

2022-09-06T09:36:30.587+00:00

When creating a clone of a Hyper-V virtual machine, the following issue occurred when importing the machine on Windows Server 2019 host:

I have tried to do some troubleshooting, including having a look at the event viewer, but I was unable to find anything (I found no events associated with the error that occurred). What I was surprised about is that I found next to no information about this particular error anywhere, including sites like Stack Overflow or MS Docs.
I do not seek a solution how to resolve the error, frankly I have no idea how to reproduce the problem again. What I would like to understand is under what circumstances is such an error produced or any additional details about it and potentially prevent it from occurring again.

Thanks,

Robert.

Hi BalazRobertSHSTEDCSVKCACHP-0871,

It looks to me like the error was caused by a simple overload on the processing going on during the import of the clone. I suggest that it may not happen again and the lack of information about this error points to it being a rare occurrence. All I can suggest is that in future, you make sure that the server that you're importing onto is not engaged in any other processes.
