Rename an Access Query

Anonymous
2010-07-06T16:47:25+00:00

It used to be I could right click an object in the navigation pane and a pop up menu appeared that allowed me to rename the object, etc. This no longer happens.

The database is in a location that has been defined as secure. I have created a digital signature on this machine but can't figure out how to use it.

Please help

This may be old, but just in case anyone else has this issue. Instead of having to download anything as suggested in the comments below. The right click option has been disabled for Access 2010.

All you have to do is go to File, save object as,  and rename your query from there.

    Hi Kentana,

Sounds like one of your database options may have been unchecked. Try going to the following location and see if "Allow Default Shortcut Menus" is unchecked. If so, check it and you should then have your shortcut menus available in your database again.

Access Options/Current Database/Ribbon and Toolbar Options/Allow Default Shortcut Menus

    Hope this helps,

    Kathy

    VR TC,

If you are trying to rename an OPEN object, you will see the menu you shared above.

If you are trying to rename a CLOSED object (from the Navigation Pane), you SHOULD see the menu below:

Hope this helps clarify the difference.

    Thanks,

    Kathy

Open windows Explorer and check to see if the file is marked as read-only.
