Is there a way to set cell margins? I know about Format Cells\Alingment\Indent ... but that only works for left margin. How about top, bottom, right?

Cheers

Actually, Microsoft has attempted (partially) to make each of these applications to be substantially more than those definitions.

Take for example Excel providing cell shading, borders, fonts, etc.  Such features are beyond simply "storing, organizing and manipulating data".  Word also attempts to be more than simply a text document editor by providing tables (which are very similar to Excel worksheets).

If Excel's worksheet cell object model was enhanced to include .TopMargin, .BottomMargin, .LeftMargin and .RightMargin properties then data could be presented consistent with how data can be presented in Word.  They are both, after all, siblings in the Office disfunctional family...

"Distributed" is not a comparable solution because it changes the cell's justification to effectively forced-justify (left and right margins aligned and large ugly white space between words).  Proper cell margins (which the code monkeys at MS failed to deliver) would enable left or right justification with padding on the sides so text doesn't abut with an adjacent cell, which I believe is what people are asking for.

    Thanks Jeeped.

I reckon a good excel improvement would be to have the ability to set cell margins relative to the contents (text or numbers) in the same way Word table cell margins can be set.

What's the process for submitting this idea to Excel developers ?

    Cheers

Actually, you can enter formulas in an MS Word table. It is limited in the available functions and the cell reference system is simplified (ABOVE, BELOW, RIGHT, LEFT), but there is some functionality.
