Hello,

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I am sorry to know that you are facing issues with activating Office 2013 on your Dell computer. I will be assisting you with this issue.

Note, all Office 2013 installations (Office Home and Student 2013, Office Home and Business 2013, Office Professional 2013, Office 2013 University) are redeemed with (activated and associated to) a Microsoft Account; except Office Professional Plus 2013 which is not associated with any Microsoft Account but installed from a disk and product key.

Check which Office 2013 installation did you purchase along with your Dell computer back in end of 2013? In case you purchased one of the 4 editions of Office 2013 mentioned above (Office Home and Student 2013, Office Home and Business 2013, Office Professional 2013, Office 2013 University), then you may check if you redeemed it with a Microsoft Account.

Login to your Microsoft Account on the My Account page with your Microsoft Account credentials. The URL for the My Account page is http://office.com/myaccount. Microsoft account credentials refers to your Outlook.com or Hotmail.com or Live.com email account or any other email account which you have used for the Office Home and Student 2013 purchase registration.

If your My Account page reflects your version of Office 2013, then you activated your purchase of Office 2013 successfully. Now, since Office 2013 is not working on your computer, let us follow these steps to resolve the issue. We shall try performing an Online Repair of Office 2013.

  1. From Control Panel navigate to Programs and /or Programs and Features and right-click on your Office 2013 installation.
  2. Click on Change and then select the Online Repair option.
  3. This step would repair/reinstall Office 2013.
  4. Once completed, make sure to restart the computer.

Check now if you are able to open your Office 2013 applications normally from the main Start Screen.

Hope the above steps would help you to resolve the issue with accessing/opening and working with the Office 2013 applications normally. Try the above steps and let us know the result.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

In order to help us resolve this issue, we need some information.

  1. Which version of Office 2013 are you trying to activate? Is it the Office Professional Plus 2013?
  2. In case you are using Office Professional Plus 2013 which comes with a disk for installation – you may check the disk sleeve to find your product key.

However, in case you are trying to install other Office 2013 version (Office Home and Student 2013, Office Home and Business 2013 or Office Professional 2013) then check if you have registered Office 2013 with a Microsoft Account? Try logging in to your Microsoft Account with your Microsoft Account Credentials on the My Account page. The URL for the My Account page is http://office.com/myaccount. Microsoft account credentials refers to your Outlook.com or Hotmail.com or Live.com email account or any other email account which you have used for the Office Home and Student 2013 purchase registration.  Follow these steps.

  • Sign-in to the My Account page with your Microsoft Account Credentials (Username and Password).
  • Now click on the option Install from a Disk down below.
  • Click on the option, I want to burn a disk below.
  • You will now be able to view your actual Product Key number for Office 2013. Make a note of this number for your reference and reactivation in the future.

You can now uninstall and reinstall Office 2013 from the My Account page to resolve any issues with your Office 2013 installation or change features. You can also use the Product Key to activate Office 2013.

Hope this information resolves your query. Let us know if you require further information or assistance.

Thank you.

    Thank you Rohn007.

To answer your question, I am trying to activate Office Professional Plus 2013. I also checked from the control panel and there is only one installed. I already did the on-line repair, no luck. Shall I uninstall it then re-install by using my product key card or do I need a usb or disk to re-install like what was mentioned from  Microsoft community thread? I

only have the product key card.

I understand from the above thread that "MS Office Professional Plus 2013 is not associated with any Microsoft Account but installed from a disk and product key".

Since we were  provided two products key cards for each PCs, I understand that this is more like of a personal license rather than a business one.

    Thanks

    Mari

My Microsoft products that I purchased from Dell when I bought my computer at the end of 2013 are not working. I thought I had activated the licenses for Office13. How do I verify that I did activate the license, and if not, I am not sure I can find the product key codes. I have tried to even open up the software until now.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks
