When you create the TOC, do the following: Click References tab | Table of Contents | Custom Table of Contents. In the Table of Contents dialog box, click the Options button. In the Table of Contents Options dialog box, type in the levels that you want for your styles. By default, Heading 1 has level 1 assigned, but you can change that easily.
