One technique you could try is to plot a 3-D column chart witha  z-axis.  When you have done this, select each series in turn, press Ctrl+1 to open the Format Series window, select Fill and set No Fill and then straight away select Picture for fill, click the Clip Art button and search for Bullet.  Choose a simple round bullet shape and then select to apply this to the End of the column.  Repeat this for each series of columns and the pictures on the tops of the columns should appear like scatter markers.

Excel does not make XYZ scatter chart, rahter it makes Line charts. So the 'numbers' are treated as test and the spacing is all wrong. Maybe in the next version ? Meanwhile you will need something like

    Origin  http://www.originlab.com/index.aspx?go=Products/Origin/Graphing

    SignaPlot http://www.sigmaplot.com/products/sigmaplot/sigmaplot-details.php

    Grapher http://www.scisoftware.com/products/grapher_new/grapher_new.html

    best wishes

Try this, seems to work nicely. http://www.doka.ch/Excel3Dscatterplot.htm Otherwise you can try R (install R, then from within R install package R commander and also some R commander plugins. Rkward also works nicely for beginners of R, its just like a normal spreadsheet programme with menus, but built upon R).

Try setting the fill to 'No fill' on all sides just before you select the clip art to make the bullet on the end.  Is your spreadsheet saved in the new .xlsx format as well?   I've put an example at http://www.allaboutoffice.co.uk/slidereg2.xlsm

Well, I did that. The problem is that when I put the 'bullet' at the end of the column the sides/faces are grey instead of transparent. Now what?
