text, menu names, buttons disappear re-appear on mouse hover

Hello all,

Just updated to Office 2013. Noticed from the get go that something was wrong. When the splash screen came up when it was installing I could not see what the "NEXT" button said just a - on the button. Then when you are choosing the theme I noticed some of the items from the list were missing until I would hover over them with my mouse, and then they would appear, and others would disappear. After installing this problem has occurred all over office. In Outlook some folder names don't show, buttons in the ribbon, and menus names are missing but they will reappear when you hover over them with the mouse, but others will then disappear. The same goes for Word, Excel, and Lync. Also in Word if I bring a document up, some of the text inside the document will seem like it has disappeared. It's not actually gone, but if I highlight it, I can see that it is there. This is very frustrating as I would love to start using Office 2013, but can't as I cannot see what I am trying to do! When I roll myself back to Office 2010 everything works just fine and I do not have any of these issues. These issues also do not happen in any other programs other than Office 2013.

I have tried repairing, uninstalling, and re-installing office 2013. I have checked and unchecked the box for Disable hardware graphics Acceleration as well as Use subpixel positioning to smooth fonts on screen. None of this has helped. Actually checking the box for Disable hardware graphics acceleration made it worse and distorted everything on the screen. I have updated my graphics driver to the most up-to-date, as well as tried rolling it back to an earlier version to see if that would help. I don't have any PDF buliders or fastpictureviewer installed. I'm out of ideas at this point. I am running Windows 7 64 bit with an Nvidia 9500 GT graphics card with the version 320.18 driver. Help please :)

Here is a photo of one of my lync conversations that shows typically what is happening in case how I have described it above is not clear. You will note everything circled in red is missing. Buttons, peoples names, text that has been typed, as well as the "x" to exit the program.

Most of these will show back up when I mouse over them. Some it takes a little more, such as highlighting the text to get it to show up.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!!

The problem has been solved. Starting Windows in safe mode, I had no problems. For this reason I have used the "msconfig" Windows utility to uncheck several programs in order they do not run when starting Windows. In this way I have seen that the problem was caused by a virus or malware called tunesNINJA. I have removed this virus deleting some files and also using "regedit". After some days, the problem has not appeared again.

I have the same problem. It has nothing to do with Office: I have this problem with Microsoft Word, and Excel, but also with Word Perfect. On the other hand, the problem does not appear when viewing images, navigating in Internet or writing messages in the server of Gmail, using Acrobat reader.

I have returned to the previous video controller and have updated it again without any success.

    Any help? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your reply! Unfortunately I have tried all the themes and they don't make any difference. Different users don't make a difference either.

Check a different Windows theme and see if makes any difference.

If not try a new user account.
