Office-2010 Will not upgrade to SP1 or SP2 32bit

Attempting to install SP1 and SP2 on Office-2010 Professional Plus 14.0.7128.5000 32-bit

Downloaded both KB2460049 (SP1) and KB2687455 (SP2)

Getting message "T here are no products affected by this package installed on this system"

Ran office repair as suggested in the other threads and re-booted PC. No change

I noticed the following pertaining to Office-2010

The version number in the application "Word"  is: 14.0.7128.5000

The version number in "Programs and Features" is: 14.0.7015.1000

Is this a possible reason why the service pack installer is indicating the product is not installed?

Can I force the install if  the package can not see that Office is installed?

What is the best remedy?

Hello,

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Since you are not able to install the updates SP1 or SP2 for Office Professional Plus 2010 install the best method is to uninstall and reinstall the program.

Let us follow these steps.

Note: Make sure that you have the Office Professional Plus 2010 installation disk or downloaded installation file and Product Key handy before uninstalling Office 2010.

Completely uninstall Office Professional Plus 2010 from Programs and Features. Right-click on Office Pro Plus 2010 and click on Change > Uninstall or just on Uninstall.

Once uninstalled we shall run the Office 2010 FIXIT to remove the remnants of Office 2010.

  • We shall un-install the remnants of Office 2010 completely by running the Office 2010 FIXIT tool.
  • Download/install and run the Office 2010 FIXIT tool from the following link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971179.
  • Once you have completed running the FIXIT make sure to restart your computer.

Now try re-installing Office 2010 back on the computer. Following installation Office 2010 applications may prompt you to reactivate Office, if so, follow the onscreen steps to reactive Office 2010. After Office Pro Plus 2010 has been installed try installing Office 2010 SP1 followed by Office 2010 SP2.

After installing the Service Pack/s make sure to restart the computer once again.

Check if this resolves the issue and you are able to upgrade Office Professional Plus 2010 to SP2.

Try the above steps and let us know the result.

Thank you.
