Orion,
This is a very common routine situation and I am surprised it took your guys so long to find it, but I suppose I should have mentioned it too.
Here is my take.
People often change the format of the text and/or bars in the Gantt Chart View. All of the formatting, including text, bars and everything in page setup are associated with the current active view. If you change any of it you are essentially changing the
design of the view "on the fly". It is impossible not to change the design of the Gantt Chart View to some extent, but if you take it too far you can end up with a very ugly and un-functional Gantt Chart View, and of course you no longer have the well designed
and functional original.
My usual advice is to leave the original largely as it is. If you have preferences which are a big departure from the original, make a new view by copying one which is close to what you want, and modify the copy.
So, I would go to More Views, select the Gantt Chart View and copy it. Give the copy a distinctive name such as "AA My New View 01" and modify that to your heart's content. If you have already messed up the original you can recover a clean original from
the global template using the organizer.
This housekeeping advice also applies to tables, filters, groups, reports, calendars and everything else that you see in the tabs in the organizer.
