How to get rid of a zillion irrelevantly opened drives for one and the same NAS-share using MS Excel=2019 in Windows-10

Hello.

[So: I'm using Windows-10 and Excel-2019]

Any (even a new and blank) excel workbook on an internal PC-disk, when I try and insert a link to an internal PC stored file,
and click on "browse for file" will result in a NAS-shares shower of between 5-10 drive letters,
actually as many as are freely available, to that very same NAS share.

I tried this approach after have hit that showe problem somewhat differently already before, as desribed below.

Until a week ago, also, in my often used ABC.xlsx workbook, if I edited any link to a file/document, in Windows-10 immediately
between 5-10 copies of that same particular NAS-share were being opened (always the same share)
with different drive letters, even though the destination workbook and the linked source document
had been moved already both to an internal PC disk, not referring to any NAS share at all any more.
Magically after some weeks of trying fruitlessly anything I'd found might help, this problem had disappeared one day completely.

Earlier I had stored the ABC.xlsx workbook on that NAS-share.

At every use of the workbook while on the NAS, such a shower of multiple NAS shares appeared,
which I had to then manually remove every time.
Therefore I transferred the workbook to my internal PC disk.
However, to no avail at first.
And only partly still now, since the NAS shower appearing for every link insert by browsing
requires manual removing the lot every time too.

No other workbooks are open at the same time.
No queries and connections are active.

How can this disturbing situation be resolved, if at all?

Any idea would be welcome.
