Drive Letter Z disconnects

Domain Functional Level: Windows Server 2008 R2
Domain Controllers: 2
DC Server Version: Windows Server 2016 Standard

Background: Every end-user is mapped five network drives via GPO at the domain level. It is one GPO with all five network drives nestled in it. The drive letters are H, L, O, P, and Z.

Problem: The Z drive is disconnected when a computer is off-site and logged into while on a private or no-network. However, The H, L, O, and P are visibly present and mapped. The problem can be reproduced consistently.

Troubleshooting: I created a new GPO that mirrors the same file share path as the Z drive but is assigned to the drive letter Y. The Y drives behaves similarly to the H, L, O, and P drives.
Troubleshooting: I created a new test OU and enabled blocked inheritance. I created a new GPO that mirrors the Z drive and is assigned to the drive letter Z. The new GPO disconnects the Z drive which is the same problem.

Help: I am at a lose with this problem and would love some feedback and guidance. Thank you in advance.

Thank you for your question and reaching out. I can understand you are having issues related to Driver letter gets disconnected.

1. Is your Z:\ connected to same File share or File servers as others H, L, O, P ?
2. Please try to manual MAP Z:\ using Net use command with persistence switch and see if it gets disconnected or not

net use Z: \VBoxSvr\Win11\Documents /persistent:yes

1. Please check SYSTEM event logs during the disconnection of Z:\ Drive
