License question for O365 on terminal server

We are looking into the possibility to install O365 on a terminal server. This is in order for one of our departments needing to use Excel and Outlook on the server.

I do not understand the license requirements for this.

As i understand it, we need to have an E3 or Business Premium license in order to activated "Shared computer activation".

My question is: Will we need to get every user who is going to use the Office installation a E3 or Business Premium license? Or will 1 E3 or Business Premium license be enough to install Office with "Shared computer activation" and every user just uses their current Business Standard licenses?

    Hi @Robert Pettersson

The Microsoft 365 Business Standard license allows you to install/use Office 365 across 5 different devices. This means if you installed O365 on a terminal server, had everyone login as themselves; they could license Office to themselves individually if they had this license.

The process would be to have them login as themselves > activate office > (this would use one of their 5 devices allowed).

To clarify, "1 E3 or Business Premium license" would most likely be in conflict with Microsoft's EULA as a license is per user.

    Hi @Robert Pettersson

    Welcome to Q&A forum.

As your issue is related to license requirement, which is not supported on Q&A forum at current time.
I suggest you contact your Office sellers to have a confirmation.

Based on my knowledge, Office 365 is licensed on a “per user” basis, users need to log in with their own account to active the Office. Following image is from "Overview of shared computer activation for Microsoft 365 Apps".
