Hi, having issue when opening excel file from onedrive for one folder only, when file opens the splash screens comes up and local excel opens and you can see the file is open, but you cant do anything, you have to end it with task manager. If you open it in web app it opens fine and if you select open in desktop it will open in local excel and you can edit it and save it back to onedrive no issues. Everyone in office can open the file and edit it and save it without issue, PC has been reimaged and all apps installed and configured from scratch.

If you copy the Excel data to other blank Excel workbook on OneDrive, then open it via Excel desktop app, will this issue be reproduced?
If only specific Excel files have this issue, do these Excel files include any macro?
When this issue occurs, it is recommended to go to the Event Viewer to check whether there is any corresponding error record.

Seems new feature possibly caused by Office applications saving direct on host and online via OneDrive in one go. Also gives feature of duplicating files if renaming file just before starting to edit it; Excel think one name locally (new name?) and other online (old name?) then automagically create two files.
This is something that i think came somewhere after summer - Especially the 30 (or was it 60) second freeze every now and then. Measured time once but forgot what it was - feels like an eternity and is same duration time after time, so likely some timeout.
And i have only non-macro files.
thank you for response, did ask you asked and issue happened on workbook copied to, yes they have macros in them, so looked into macros, some are copied over form other worksheets, so if we work with workbook by itself the issue is not present it is only after other macros are copied over.

I suggest you add the OneDrive URL to Office Trusted Locations to have a check.
Please check the box of "Allow trusted locations on my network (not recommended)" when adding the trusted location.
