Hello,
I've an HP ml310e gen8, pretty old I know nowadays but still working.
I've installed ESXi 6.7 on it.
This HP server has a Windows Server 2012 Std ROK 2CPU/VM license sticker.
I've installed a Windows Server 2012 R2 on the ESXi, but I'm not able to validate the license. It keeps telling me
Even using the command:
DISM /Online /Set-Edition:ServerStandard /ProductKey:LICENSECODEHERE/AcceptEula
I have the "The specified product key could not be validated." error.
Is my License invalid?
Thanks!

    Is my License invalid?

Probably yes. Generally OEM license are tied to the hardware. Installing the hypervisor has now isolated the OS from the hardware to where it can no longer activate. You can check with the OEM provider to confirm this.
