Disconnect between autheticator and facebook

Question

I have added two-factor authentication to my Facebook account and scanned the QR code provided to connect it to the Authenticator app.
Facebook now has this set up and asks me for the code to sign in, however my Authenticator app does not have my Facebook account linked. So it is not providing me the right codes to sign in.
I have been speaking with Facebook help chats and it has resulted in the fact that they cannot override and it seems to be a connection issue with the Authenticator app.
How do I get the correct code or connect the account on Authenticator, as it is apparently already set up according to Facebook and I cannot redo this.

I am currently locked out of my Facebook and actually need this for my work. I am stuck and need help figuring out how to get the correct code to sign in to my Facebook and then adjust my settings.
